He first warmly welcomed all guests to participate in the Design Leadership Forum. He pointed out that Shanghai Design 10×10 is the result of the wonderful reaction between contemporary Shanghai and design. From the beginning of the grand exhibition in 2018, Shanghai Academy of Fine Arts has been holding high the banner of Neo-Shanghai Style. SAFA combines the creative expression of Aesthetic with the goal and task of education, fosters character and civic virtue through a series of activities and exhibitions, cultivates professional and compound design talents, and explores a new way of design education. The holding of this forum is a milestone for SAFA to inherit and develop Shanghai Design, and also a reflection of giving full play to the social aesthetic education function of educational institutions, guiding creation, improving aesthetics, and leading fashion. He wished the 2022 Shanghai Design 10×10 Global Awards Exhibition Design Leadership Forum a success, and expressed great expectations for the dialogue between Chinese design and world design.

2022 "Shanghai Design 10X10" Global Awards Exhibition

Through a short video, Professor Apex Lin, Pang-Soong reviewed the connotation of Shanghai Design 10×10 project and the development of activities in recent years, and officially started the discussion. Leaders and representatives of 10 global design award organizations expressed leading views on the development trend of global design and the future of design in recent years. They put forward their own unique opinions, introduced the design standards of each organization, their vision of future design and their advice to young designers.

Yash Egami, Chief Operating Officer of the One Club for Creativity introduced ADC Annual Awards in New York and the design trends in recent years. Science and technology are increasingly used in creative industries. Artificial intelligence, big data, metaverse and other technologies have enriched designers' creative tools and expanded the dimension of experience space. ADC Annual Awards in New York also follows the development trend. In recent years, it has added independent categories such as artificial intelligence, games and brand design, and insisted on a unified and high standard review process to make design play a greater role and make digital experience more humanistic. At the same time, he suggested that young designers should never forget the importance of craftsmanship. Inspiration should be combined with careful consideration of details to become an excellent design work.

Xavier Bermúdez, Chairman of the International Poster Biennial in Mexico (BICM) emphasized cultural diversity in his speech. Posters are an excellent expression of cultural diversity. From the formulation of work selection criteria to the composition of the jury, they all reflect the importance that BICM attaches to multiculturalism. They also pay attention to the ecological environment. Since 1990, BICM has been advocating to protect the environment, protect the earth, respect nature and become a part of it. These characteristics together gave life to BICM. He suggests that young designers should learn from others, follow their own path, and promote social development with more enthusiasm.

John Gravdahl, Jason Frazier, Roberto Mutoreanu, Co-Director of the Colorado International Invitational Poster Exhibition (CIIPE), jointly introduced the operating mechanism and results of the CIIPE. This is one of the few invited exhibitions in the world, and also one of the earliest exhibitions that openly solicited works for the whole network. They invite specific designers to participate in the exhibition without limiting any theme. On the one hand, it can further demonstrate the infinite power of poster design and the creative personality of designers. On the other hand, this gives students at Colorado State University a chance to learn about posters and designs from around the world and experience the differences between different cultures. The open solicitation of works for the whole network further broadens the coverage of the exhibition, so that more ideas and creativity can be reflected in the exhibition. In this exhibition, visitors have the opportunity to review history and imagine the future.

Yoo, Yoon Ho, President of the Korean Ensemble of Contemporary Design (KECD) introduced KECD and the 11th KECD Asian Graphic Design Triennale 2021. Founded in 1969, KECD takes the experimental spirit as its core value, and sets up the goals of adapting to the future design trend, facing domestic and foreign design exchanges, design social services, etc. The 11th KECD Asian Graphic Design Triennale in 2021 was held in Seoul Art Hall, with the theme of "The Collective", implying strong integration and cooperation through vision. The exhibition not only includes offline exhibition halls, VR technology is also used to allow anyone in the world to visit the exhibition. In addition, the special exhibition with another theme also invited designers to form a team through online media to try new communication methods and jointly complete the creation of works.

Hong Khai Seng, Chairman of the SG Mark, Vice President of the DBCS believes that good design must embody 5 values. Design must be empathetic – made by people for people. Furthermore, designs should add value to positively impact lives, inspire others, and embody the values of ethics and responsibility. And designs should be sustainable. Sustainable Design was added as a category in 2020 to bring to the fore a long-term approach towards environmental protection. He encouraged young designers that design is gaining more presence and importance across all industries. They have the opportunity to enter different sectors and make a wide range of career options.

Sean C.K. Lee, General Manager of Germany iF Design Award Shenzhen Company introduced their selected works. These works mainly include product design, packaging design and communication design, among which there are several physical works for the audience to watch from a distance. Then he reviewed the German iF Design Award in 2022 through video. In this event, nearly 11000 entries from 57 countries and regions all over the world participated in the competition, including 80 categories. The objectivity and authority of the review ensured that the best works won the awards. They selected the entries from multiple dimensions such as product concept, form and function, difference and influence.

Zeng Lingbo, Executive Vice President of Shenzhen Graphic Design Association (SGDA) started speech from the slogan of the GDC Award "design that affects the future of China". GDC Award has become the first platform for global Chinese designers to compete, promoting the rapid development of Chinese contemporary graphic design. GDC Award has always adhered to one standard:work is the only standard. He believes that the current design presents four trends: carrier transformation and media integration, the intervention of emerging technologies, the concern of social reality, the return of local culture. Each GDC Award makes positive response and subtle changes according to the actual situation. He sent a message to young designers to cherish the opportunities brought by the transformation of the times, think and work more systematically, to face the future bravely, to express their declaration to this era with the power of design, and tell the world what is the real Chinese design.

Chao, Sioleong, Chairman of the Macau Designers Association introduced the evolution and holding of the Macao Design Award. Macao Design Award was founded by Macao designers in 1994, formerly known as Macao Design Biennale. It is a professional event with a long history in the Asian design community. This year's Macao Design Award, with the theme of climbing the peak, invited designers to climb their own peak and exchange the beautiful scenery of design. It received more than 3600 works from 22 countries and regions, and finally produced 97 award-winning works, totaling 150 awards. Facing the future, Macao Design Awards will continue to praise designers, promote design concepts, provide exhibition platforms, and strive to find out talents. Macao Design Award will use a series of events to make Macao's design look at the world and connect with international standards, making Macao an important bridge for exchanges between China and the West.

Lutz Dietzold, CEO of the German Design Council (GDC) introduced German Design Award (GDA). GDA gathers outstanding designers from different industries. Its evaluation criteria include overall concept, design quality, functional solutions, contextual quality and sustainability, and it is committed to contributing to economic development, social progress and environmental protection. GDA implements a comprehensive and holistic approach, which allows design and brand to be presented together, closely observes the latest developments of designers, enterprises and the whole society, and directly faces problems with innovation and change, in order to find appropriate solutions. One of its characteristics is the high proportion of internationalization. He looks forward to finding exciting designs with designers and design organizations of global awards and exhibitions, and creating a better future for design.

Pekka Loiri, Chairman of the Lahti International Poster Triennial, Finland, first introduced his own creative paradigm. Poster designer is a storyteller. He never starts by drawing, but first makes a list of inspiration, and then selects the theme to start the creation. The best posters are timeless, they are striking, hitting, powerful, memorable. Although computer technology has brought great changes to the creative process, he still suggests that designers use their brains to think, which is the most valuable part of design. Facing the young generation of designers, he shared his own design concept. Less is More. Keep it simple. Do not add unnecessary elements to your posters or in any of your graphic works. Keep curiosity and playfulness, and keep eyes and mind open, look around, be or get inspired.

Creative Big World

The big world is also a small world, and the small world is also a big world; The big world includes the infinity of the universe, and the small world contains the grandeur of the micro.

The seemingly tiny cell life is actually containing the vast universe. We look for the mystery of the cell world through the microscope, and find the colorful world in the microcosm. The diverse characteristics of life form a crisscross network combination, thus forming an organically connected, powerful and endless whole. The visual system also shows the integration of global creativity, and is an inherent symbiosis of life, human and species, which together creates a creative world that is inseparable, interdependent and relative from nature.
